Photocopying literature
Library items may be photocopied, one photocopy per person, within the
allowance of copyright laws, if the purpose is for academic research.
Photocopies of items that are not held by the library may be obtained
or borrowed from other universities.
Photocopying the library holdings
Pay photocopy machines are located in the photocopy corners on the first
and second floors of the library. Fill in a Literature Photocopying
Application form first and then do the photocopying on your own. The
library does not provide small change. The machines on the second floor
take 1000-yen bills. Be sure to return the item to the stack where it
was originally located after you have finished photocopying.
Copy Card for photocopying
at university expense
Photocopying items using university expense funds requires a Copy
Card. On the average, two Copy Cards are provided for each course.
These cards may not to be used outside the library. Health Department
users must return the cards when being transferred or resigning. The
Copy Cards may be used on the photocopy machines on the first, second
and third floors. Be sure to return the item to the stack where it
was originally located after you have finished photocopying. The cost
will be reflected on the budget quarterly.

Interlibrary Loan
Materials not held by the university may be borrowed from the library
of other universities or the National Diet library. As is the case with
requesting photocopies from other institutions, fill in and submit an
Inter-library Service Request to the library counter. Loan periods are
typically 3-4 weeks, starting from the shipping day and ending at the
returning-shipping day, although this may differ depending on the institution.
The cost for delivery and return (book parcel + simplified registered
mail) is between 500 and 1,000 yen. Materials from the University Main
Library or the Branch Library of Engineering may be borrowed for 2 weeks
with no delivery charge.
Reference service
The library helps users find reference books or items as requested and
can assist users in their research. The library staff helps users find
required information. Ask a librarian at the counter or by phone or
fax to locate an item, to make bibliographic inquiries, or to provide
guidance on how to use the library.
