Book Detection System

The BDS will emit an alarm when an unchecked-out item is taken out of the library. An alarm may also sound in reaction to a strongly magnetic item, in which case your cooperation with out staff is appreciated.

Return

Bring the items you have borrowed to the counter to return them. When the library is not open, you can put them into the book post at the front door. (For CD-ROMs, videotapes and other items that can be easily damaged, please return them to the counter.) For overdue items, a reminder will be sent to notify the user. The user must pay for lost or damaged items.

Overdue penalty

Users with overdue items cannot borrow other materials until these items have been returned.
An overdue item borrowed from another university library also prevents the user from taking advantage of the privilege to borrow items from the Library of Medicine.

Loans for photocopying (¦Graduate studesnts and Faculity staff only)

Reference books and journals not available for circulation may be borrowed for photocopying. You need to fill in pertinent information in the Loan Notebook at the counter. You also need to return the item to the stack where it was originally located yourself.

Reservations

You may place holds on checked-out items. Bring your library card and tell a librarian what items you want to reserve.
